Rick MorinRick Morin - Percussionist
Rick Morin is a composer and performer currently working as a freelance percussionist / drummer for original artists, general business bands, dance and theater companies. His teaching experience includes:

SMARTS Summer Institute; Whites Music in North Attleboro, MA;
The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro, MA;
Hull Charter School in Hull, MA;
Dick Dicenso's Drum Shop in Quincy, MA
and many public schools throughout the New England Region.

Rick has developed Innerythms, a program designed for children and adults which encourages them to explore their own rhythm within a group environment. Through Innerythms, Rick received a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council Roster for Education Programs. Additionally, he was the recipient of a grant from the Maine Community Foundation for a dance / percussion performance with the Ram Island Dance Company based in Portland, Maine.

Rick is endorsed by Latin Percussion, Vic Firth, and Sabian. In 2001, Mountain Rythym released worldwide a compilation CD featuring an original score composed and performed by Rick and musical partner, George Dussault. Rick and George are also founding members of original band Spiney Norman, a project mixing world music, funk and jazz with rock. Spiney Norman released their debut album, The Trials And Tribulations of Spiney Norman, in the fall of 2001 to critical acclaim. Their second album, Weather The Storm, was released in April, 2004.

  • Endorsed percussionist by LP, Vic Firth, HQ and Sabian Cymbals.
  • Created The Rhythm Room, a percussion ensemble that performs original scores throughout New England. This group has performed with artists that include Bernard Purdie (Steely Dan drummer), Dom Famularo (world renowned drum clinician, educator and motivational speaker) and Clave Logic (world class percussion ensemble).
  • Drummer/percussionist for Dean College dance program, Franklin, MA
  • Percussionist for Master dance classes facilitated by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
  • Wrote and performed original scores with Ram Island Dance Co., Portland, ME; Blah Rhino Dance Co., Bridgewater, MA and choreographer, Jody Weber; Boston, MA.
  • Wrote and directed the score for Sharon High School’s One Act Play Festival, Wiley and the Hairy Man which won the Massachusetts Drama Festival.
  • Drummer/percussionist for Heart to Heart Productions founded by Eric Larivee, an accomplished New York cabaret performer. Heart to Heart Productions has performed with Tony Award-winning actress/singer Betty Buckley and Academy Award-winning actress/singer Shirley Jones.
  • Collaborated Bridgewater State College Children’s Theatre underscore with Dr. Krishna Raghavendra, International Veena artist.
  • World percussion performer with Dr. Krishna Raghavendra and RARE (Raga and Rhythm Ensemble), a group comprised of highly acclaimed performers from South India. RARE performed with internationally acclaimed jazz musician and legendary saxophonist Charlie Mariano in May of 2002.
  • Percussionist/drummer for original band, Spiney Norman.
  • Percussionist for Boston-based touring band, First Class.
  • Freelance percussionist/drummer for original artists and GB bands.
  • Performed original music in commercials for Ram Island and Bridgewater State College Dance Companies.
  • Freelance studio musician.

Innerythms:

  • Founder/Director of Innerythms, a program designed for people of all ages to explore the world of percussion and to participate and encourage individuals to discover their own “inner rhythm”.
  • Facilitator of the music program for the North Attleboro Hockomock YMCA. The YMCA was awarded a $90,000 grant based on the Innerythms philosophy and program.
  • Developed an individualized after-school program for children involved with the United Way of Attleboro. A Massachusetts Cultural Council grant was awarded to the United Way for this program.
  • Developed an individualized summer program for the Mattapoisett YMCA.
  • Facilitator of drum therapy at Hasbro Hospital in Rhode Island.
  • Awarded the North Attleboro Cultural Council Grant to perform at the North Attleboro Arts Festival.
  • Produced, promoted and wrote “An Evening of Music” performed at the Judith Cobb Auditorium in North Attleboro, MA.

Television:

  • Developed a TV show for North Attleboro Cable: Innerythms presents The Rhythm Room.
  • Appeared on ABC’s Channel 10 to promote the SMARTS Collaborative program.
